I’m quite an old woman and am a pediatric cardiologist. In Italy means to have a specialisation in both Cardiology and in Pediatrics. I worked at the Bergamo Hospital which has one of the first and important cardiosurgery centres in Italy. I’m retired now but am still working one day a week as a pediatric cardiologist.
My life is very busy. I have a granddaughter in Milan and so I’m very busy with her, taking her to some after-school activities. I have also two grandsons, but they live in London. We go to visit them twice a year.
Every year I have a theatre subscription and also for conservatory (I haven’t mentioned that I started playing the piano just when I retired. It was a dream when I was young and I decided to start, despite my age).
I’m very interested in social problems that, of course, takes up a lot of time.
I’m working with Emergency, an Italian NGO, that built many hospitals in Africa and Afghanistan. I usually go on medical missions twice a year. My last two were in Sudan, the latter in February this year. The next will be in Iraq, but I was in many countries, including Afghanistan.
I’m very happy to be of help where people, especially children, need more medical assistance.
If you want to know more about the activities Emergency activity, you can visit our website: www.emergency.it
You can see how our hospitals are beautiful, high-quality and free of charge.
Of course, I’m always trying to improve my English, thanks to Jane ….
English is very important and useful for my work (medical congresses are held in English), for my travels too and when I go on missions with Emergency.
I learn French at school, so I tried to learn English by myself. I discovered Jane and her online school some years ago, and my English has improved a lot. Jane is very kind and her courses are very useful, very interesting, and not at all boring.
I’m so happy to have met Jane and follow her lessons!! THANKS JANE

Thank you so much Maria. Such an interesting and inspiring life.
