Time for reflection……
Recently I have been feeling quite reflective and contemplative (thinking deeply) in general. I’m not sure why, but perhaps it is for a number of reasons; our recent big move to very different location, situation and life; my two boys both starting new journeys at new schools; our Summer of English course has been discussing the topic of INSPIRATION; my solo English business venture having its 1-year anniversary; the beginning of the next chapter of my English courses and classes. Maybe most importantly, my ultimate dream….to run regular English language retreats in Ireland.
How have you been feeling as we reach the end of the summer?
The past weeks, I have been reflecting mainly on two things; the direction my English language business and my adult English learners (one wonderful and surprising development has been the growth of my English courses for children!). I quickly discovered something that has been right in front of my nose (obvious and extremely clear) the whole time…….All (and I am not exaggerating, all!) of my English members and learners have a variety of things in common.
- Genuine, friendly, great people
- A strong interest in other cultures, places and people
- Globally minded people
- People who care about others from a family/friend level to an international level
- People who enjoy sharing their ideas and experiences, and discussing life and the world around us
Does that sound like you?? Yes, you are one of these special people!
What part does English play in this?
I have also come to the conclusion (decide after careful thought and consideration) that English or any language is a social skill and these people (myself included) use English as a tool to…
- meet & communicate with people from different places & countries
- develop friendships & connections
- learn about other cultures & places
- share experiences & ideas
- discuss current topics, issues & events
- help when travelling
Does this sound like you and your English? If yes, then join us……..
